Mississauga, Canada — October 3, 2007 — Wheels Group of Companies today announced the completion of the integration of its Canadian based Wheels International and United States based Wheels Clipper divisions, expanding the Groups’ trans-border supply chain and logistics capabilities and enhancing customer service in both countries. With it comes the launch of the Wheels-Clipper brand.
“The integration of these Divisions supports Wheels Group’s ongoing commitment to ensuring our network capability can provide any logistic supply chain service, throughout North America and globally, at the highest level of value”, said Doug Tozer, founder, majority shareholder and now active Chairman of the organization.
Peter Jamieson, former Wheels International division President, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer, Wheels Group, to facilitate best practices in service delivery, integration and continuous improvement. His responsibilities include finance, administration, information technology, marketing and quality.
Walter D. Whitt, former President of Wheels Clipper, has been appointed President of Wheels-Clipper. With responsibility for Operations, Sales and Business Logistics for the newly-combined, non-asset Wheels International and Clipper businesses, his responsibilities also include Wheels Global and Wheels Produce Divisions.
Jim Davidson, Wheels Group Chief Executive Officer comments, “We’re excited about the new opportunities this brings to Wheels International and Wheels Clipper customers. It improves our ability to create or adapt different segments of global supply chains to support our customers’ unique business opportunities or demands. It also reflects our drive to continually help our customers to become more competitive and efficient in their local and global markets”.
The integration expands the cross-border capabilities of both organizations and brings business logistics and complex supply chain solutions as well as offshore capabilities to Wheels Clipper customers. Wheels International customers will benefit from new services such as asset temperature controlled.
The Wheels Group of Companies was recently recognized as one of North America’s Top 100 third-party logistics providers by Inbound Logistics magazine and has been recognized annually as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies since 1997.
