In 1938, the Jerry Chambers family founded Wheels Clipper as a new land transportation company dedicated to the same ideals of innovation, service and reliability. The second 'X' in Exxpress was added to stand for "X-tra" effort to get the job done right and "X-traordinary" customer service.
The Chambers family continued to run the company until 1994. In 1987, the company was sold to Arkansas Best Corporation, and in 2006 was acquired by Wheels Group.
In October 2007, the integration of Wheels Group and Wheels Clipper was announced. With it comes the launch of the Wheels-Clipper brand. Today, as part of Wheels Group, cross-border capabilities and complex supply chain solutions of both organizations has greatly improved.
